The short version
No cookies, no tracking scripts, no advertising and no third-party requests. I keep daily totals of page views and link clicks to compare two designs of the site. Nothing about you is stored.
Two designs, compared without cookies
The site has two designs. To decide which one you see, the site briefly combines your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, today's date and a secret value, and turns them into a one-way code. The code is used once, to pick a design, and then discarded. Your IP address and user agent are not stored or logged by this site.
What is stored
For each day and each design: how many times the home page and the work page were viewed, and how many times the email and LinkedIn links were clicked. These are totals of events, not of people, and they can't identify you.
Why
Under UK GDPR, the lawful basis is legitimate interests: understanding which design helps visitors find what they need. The processing is brief and minimal, and you can opt out. This relies on the statistical-purposes exception in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, as described by the ICO.
Opting out
You are not counted if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. You can also browse without being counted: the site then leaves you out of the totals for the rest of your visit. You still see one of the designs.
How long
The daily totals are deleted no later than six months after the comparison ends.
Who processes it
Cloudflare hosts the site and runs the code that picks the design and keeps the totals. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the pages. The site's own error logs never contain your IP address, browser details or the address you visited, and per-request logging is turned off. Email to mark@digitaladvisory.ltd is handled by Microsoft 365. If you email me, I keep the conversation for as long as it is useful to our work together, and delete it when asked.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of personal data I hold about you, and you can object to processing. Email mark@digitaladvisory.ltd. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
